Nexon Games has completed its latest enforcement wave in The First Descendant, resulting in over 2,200 player penalties. The developer's commitment to maintaining a fair gaming environment led to permanent bans for dozens using unauthorized programs or exploiting payment systems.
Nexon's Anti-Cheat Measures Target Multiple Offenses
In their ongoing battle against unfair play, Nexon Games has implemented severe consequences for players violating the rules in The First Descendant. The recent enforcement period targeted several categories of violations with appropriate penalties.
The harshest punishment—permanent game bans—was issued to 36 players caught creating, distributing, or using unauthorized programs. These third-party tools provide unfair advantages that undermine the competitive integrity of the game.
Additionally, 18 players received permanent bans for exploiting the Open Store payment process. This exploitation allowed these users to gain unfair advantages through payment system manipulation, directly affecting the game's economy.
Temporary Restrictions for Suspicious Activity
Beyond the permanent bans, Nexon identified thousands of accounts exhibiting unusual gameplay patterns. Five users received 30-day restrictions on game access, while a substantial 2,205 players were hit with 3-day separate matchmaking penalties.
These temporary restrictions serve as warnings to players whose behavior has been flagged as suspicious but may not warrant permanent removal from the game. The separate matchmaking penalty effectively creates a "shadow pool" where these players can only match with other penalized accounts for the duration.
How Can Players Report Suspicious Behavior?
Nexon Games encourages the community to help maintain The First Descendant's integrity by reporting suspicious activity through the in-game reporting feature. This system allows the development team to investigate potential violations and take appropriate action.
The developer emphasized their commitment to creating "a pleasant environment" for all legitimate players. This recent enforcement wave demonstrates Nexon's ongoing dedication to fair play in their free-to-play cooperative shooter.
Enforcement Period Details
The crackdown covered player activity from May 23 through May 29, with penalties implemented shortly after the review period concluded. Nexon regularly conducts these enforcement waves to maintain game integrity.
Players can expect similar enforcement actions in the future as the developer continues monitoring for unfair advantages and exploitative behavior that negatively impacts the community experience.
