Nexon Games has unveiled Update 1.2.14 for The First Descendant, introducing the fiery Ultimate Blair, a challenging new Void Erosion Purge difficulty, and a robust enhancement system. The update also adds medals, new player guides, and multiple events running from April 16 to May 21, 2025.
Ultimate Blair Brings Fire and Fury
The headline feature of Update 1.2.14 is Ultimate Blair, a new Descendant with powerful fire-based abilities. Players can obtain Blair's blueprints and codes through Amorphous Materials, with necessary research components available in the Sigma Sector.
Blair's skill set revolves around fire damage and burn effects, featuring two distinctive skill modules: "Killer Recipe," which applies burn effects with a unique Chef's Touch mechanic, and "Next-level Recipe," creating Flame Zones with forward fire attacks. Completing Blair's exclusive quest rewards players with the Pyromaniac Objet chest attachment.
Challenge Yourself in Void Erosion Purge
Veterans seeking tougher challenges can tackle the new Void Erosion Purge: Challenge Difficulty mode. This high-level content unlocks after clearing Normal Difficulty Stage 30 and features five sequential stages requiring players to defeat the Vulgus Legion and Commander within strict time limits.
Each stage targets a 12-minute completion time and rewards successful players with valuable Tier X Cores and Weapon Core Amplifiers. A new leaderboard system ranks players based on their fastest clear times, resetting with each season episode.
How Does the New Enhancement System Work?
Update 1.2.14 introduces an option enhancement system for Reactors and External Components. Players can enhance their gear at workbenches located in Albion or outposts, with a chance for Critical Success that doubles value increases.
The system uses Quantum Crystals, Nano Compounds, and Energy Control Cores, with material requirements increasing with each enhancement attempt:

The update also introduces a Medal system rewarding players for outstanding Awards achievements. These honorary distinctions are categorized by Award type, with medal levels increasing through repeated earnings. Players can view and equip medals through the Journal and Inventory interfaces.
Quality-of-Life Improvements
Numerous improvements enhance the The First Descendant experience, including weapon enhancements now applying across identical firearms, improved Photo Mode with new filters and speed options, and better UI navigation for both gamepad and mouse users.
New players benefit from "Beginner's Guide" quests providing clear objectives and rewards, while the Sigma Sector receives significant enhancements including increased EXP gains, better drop rates, and additional rewards.
