Grinding Gear Games has announced that the Dawn of the Hunt Mystery Box, currently available in Path of Exile 2, will soon be making its way to the original Path of Exile. Players who've already purchased these cosmetics won't need to buy them again, as all items will function across both games with some gameplay-specific adjustments.

Cross-Game Compatibility Ensures Value for Players

In a player-friendly move announced on May 19, 2025, Grinding Gear Games confirmed that all Dawn of the Hunt Mystery Box items will automatically be available in both games. If you've already unlocked these cosmetics in Path of Exile 2, they'll immediately appear in your Path of Exile 1 inventory once the box launches there.

Gameplay Adaptations for Original PoE

Due to mechanical differences between the games, some items are being thoughtfully adjusted. Crossbow skins, a weapon type that doesn't exist in the original game, will function as back attachments in Path of Exile 1. Similarly, dodge-roll effects will be converted to Quicksilver Flask Effects to match the original game's movement mechanics.

What's in the Dawn of the Hunt Mystery Box?

The mystery box features an impressive array of cosmetics, including the ethereal Arbiter of Ash Wings, the imposing Breachlord's Knight Weapons and Armour, and the menacing Witch Hunter set. Pet collectors will appreciate the intricate Etched Beetle and Quadrilla companions, while the Djinn's Portal and The Defiler Map Device offer striking alternatives to standard game elements.

Artistic Collaboration

The box showcases the talents of several artists, including Timothy Albano (Breachlord's Knight designs), Yong Yi Lee (responsible for the pets, portal, and map device), and Stuart Whittaker (Witch Hunter Back Attachment). Their concept art reveals the detailed creative process behind these premium cosmetics.

With Path of Exile 2 scheduled for full release on December 6, 2024, this cross-game integration demonstrates Grinding Gear Games' commitment to maintaining value across both titles in their action RPG franchise.
