Grinding Gear Games has announced significant quality-of-life improvements coming to Path of Exile 2 in a patch scheduled for mid-next week. The highly requested Ascendancy respec system headlines a variety of changes aimed at improving the player experience across endgame content, crafting, and class mechanics.
Ascendancy Respec System Finally Arrives
Players will soon be able to respec their Ascendancy class choices, addressing one of the community's most frequent requests since launch. The system requires completing an Ascendancy Trial that would grant the number of points already earned, with the condition that players must have zero points currently allocated in their Ascendancy.
Access to the respec window will be available at Balbala or through the Trialmaster near the Ascension device. To make these trials more accessible, GGG is also reducing level requirements for Ultimatums - 7-chamber Ultimatums (4 Ascendancy points) now require level 55 instead of 60, while 10-chamber Ultimatums (6 Ascendancy points) have been lowered to level 65 from 75.
Endgame and Crafting Improvements
The update addresses several endgame pain points, particularly with Tower and Hideout maps, which will now spawn additional rare monsters for clear conditions and guarantee map drops from final rare kills to improve map sustain.
Crafting is getting streamlined with the removal of lower-tier runes from the drop pool as players unlock higher tiers, while maintaining reasonable total rune counts. Scepters will receive socket ability, and Talismans will get new mods specifically for Scepters to facilitate minion upgrades.
How Will These Changes Affect Your Build?
Totem builds receive significant defensive buffs, with totems gaining elemental resistances starting at gem level 15, scaling up to 75% at level 20. The Ironwood support will further enhance this by adding Maximum Elemental Resistance to totems.
Shard Scavenger is getting a substantial rework, now restoring one cooldown use for all Grenades and providing a 2-second buff that prevents Crossbow Attacks from consuming bolts - a major boost for certain builds.
UI Improvements for Gem Management
A welcome quality-of-life addition comes in the form of a new "My Skills" tab in the gemcutting window, which will display all equipped gems in one convenient location, making gem management significantly more streamlined.
According to the official announcement posted on April 10, 2025, these changes are targeted for deployment in a patch releasing mid-next week. GGG noted they are continuing to investigate additional improvements based on player feedback for Path of Exile 2.
The development team's quick response to community feedback continues to demonstrate their commitment to refining the Path of Exile 2 experience following its December 2024 release.
