Battlestate Games has rolled out a technical update for Escape from Tarkov, targeting some of the most frustrating recent bugs like client freezes and broken character models. Alongside the immediate fixes, the studio announced plans for future infrastructure improvements and confirmed that all players will receive gear sets as compensation for the ongoing stability problems.
Immediate Fixes Deployed
This latest patch addresses the client freezes that many players experienced when switching between screens—a critical fix that could prevent deaths caused by a locked-up game. Nothing is worse than losing a full kit because the UI decided to hang.
The update also corrects several visual and AI-related issues:
- Broken Character Models: An issue causing character models to display incorrectly has been fixed.
- AI Pathing: Errors in AI navigation have been resolved, which should make Scav behavior more predictable and less likely to result in them getting stuck or acting erratically.
- Lighting Adjustments: A specific bug with Jaeger's lighting while using SSR (Screen Space Reflections) has been fixed. Additionally, several PostFX settings have been temporarily disabled, likely to improve performance and stability while the team investigates further.
Will this stop the random trader errors?
Not yet, but a fix is on the way. BSG has acknowledged the persistent "Error 228" that pops up when interacting with traders and confirmed a solution is in the works for an upcoming patch. They are also targeting launcher download issues that have been preventing some players from updating the game smoothly.
Future Plans and Player Compensation
Looking ahead, Battlestate Games is planning an infrastructure expansion specifically to tackle long matching times. While details are sparse, this is a welcome announcement for anyone who has spent more time in a queue than in a raid.
As a make-good for the recent instability, all players will receive both the "Bear Classic" and "USEC Night Patrol" gear sets. This compensation should appear in your in-game messages soon. While a free kit doesn't replace the gear lost to bugs, it's a solid gesture that helps players get back into the fight without a punishing financial reset.
