Battlestate Games has released Patch 0.16.5.5 for Escape from Tarkov, introducing the highly anticipated Arena BattlePass with rewards that persist through wipes. The update also features comprehensive reworks to Ref tasks, changes to the Secure container Theta, and exciting new crafting options.
Arena BattlePass: Rewards That Survive Wipes
The standout feature of Patch 0.16.5.5 is the introduction of the Arena BattlePass system. Unlike traditional rewards in Escape from Tarkov, most BattlePass rewards (excluding currency and crates) will persist through wipes. This includes tactical clothing that will be immediately available in both EFT: Arena and the main game.
Battle Pass Season 0 is scheduled to run for two months with a possible extension. Players can rest easy knowing their progress and Battle Pass currency will be retained through wipes, including Prestige levels.
Ref Tasks: Less Grind, Better Rewards
Battlestate Games has completely reworked Ref tasks to address player feedback about difficulty. The update removes frustrating conditions like mandatory visits to Streets of Tarkov, while simultaneously improving completion rewards across the board.
An exciting addition is the free 3-day trial access to EFT: Arena for completing the Balancing - Part 1 task, giving players a chance to experience Arena content without purchase. The update also adds an alternate final task in the Ref task line, providing more flexibility for progression.
What's Changed with the Theta Container?
The Secure container Theta has received a significant layout adjustment. Previously configured as "2х2 + 1х2 + 1х2 + 1х2," it now features a more streamlined "4х2 + 1х2" layout. This change offers more flexibility for storing larger items while maintaining the same overall capacity.
Expanded Trader Inventory and Crafting
Ref's trader inventory has been substantially expanded with new offerings. Players can now purchase or barter for fuel tanks, repair kits, ammunition packs, cases, magazines, weapon attachments, and night vision goggles. Notably, barter items needed for Hideout construction have been removed from his inventory.
The Workbench received attention too, with new crafting options for all Arena crates available at Workbench level 1. These include the exclusive Battle Pass Season 0 crate and various Rare locked crates (equipment, valuables, supply, and weapon). All crates require a Hand drill and have a quick 1-minute opening time.
Season 0 Exclusive Rewards
The new Battle Pass Season 0 crate contains some of the game's most sought-after items, including Intelligence folders, TerraGroup Blue Folders, Physical Bitcoin, military electronics, LEDX, Marked keys, and other valuable loot. These crates will only be obtainable through the Season 0 Battle Pass or special events, making them particularly desirable for collectors and high-level players.
Patch 0.16.5.5 demonstrates Battlestate Games' commitment to evolving Escape from Tarkov with player-focused improvements while adding compelling new content to keep the experience fresh.
