The Vanguard is overhauling its operations in Destiny 2 with the introduction of Vanguard Alerts, a new system set to shake up the weekly ritual grind. This week's update from Bungie gives us a deep dive into how this will work, alongside crucial details for the upcoming 'Equilibrium' dungeon race and some much-needed adjustments to the 'Call to Arms' Crucible mode.
Vanguard Alerts Overhaul the Weekly Grind
Starting in the second week of the Renegades season, the old Vanguard Ops playlist is being retired for a rotating 'Vanguard Alert' system. This new node will feature a weekly rotation of activities, including a standard Vanguard Alert playlist, Arena Ops, a featured Crucible mode, and a high-stakes GM Alert. Most importantly, this is also where you'll find access to the new Renegades dungeon and the Desert Perpetual raid when they are the featured activity.
This change directly impacts the loot chase. New seasonal weapons earned from these alerts will roll with the 'Accelerated Assault' Origin Trait, which will likely become a key part of new PvE builds. Consolidating these activities into a single, rotating node streamlines the Director and focuses the player base on a specific challenge each week.
How will Vanguard Alerts change the loot grind?
Instead of farming a single, static playlist, players will now engage with a rotating set of challenges to earn new gear. The main draw is that new seasonal weapons with the exclusive 'Accelerated Assault' Origin Trait will drop from these alerts. This makes the Vanguard Alert system the primary source for some of the season's most relevant gear, pushing players to participate in whatever the active alert is for that week.
World First Dungeon Race Heats Up
For fireteams aiming to claim the coveted World First title for the 'Equilibrium' dungeon, Bungie has laid out the ground rules. Hosted by community members Evanf1997 and CbGray, the race will require teams to have their entire run streamed or recorded without interruptions. You'll need a clean video from orbit to the final mission end screen to qualify. This ensures a fair competition where every encounter and strategy is on display. Teams must submit their run by December 13 at 9 AM PT to be eligible.
Crucible's Call to Arms Gets Tuned
If you've been grinding the Call to Arms playlist, you'll be glad to hear fixes are on the way. Bungie is removing Power Multipliers, a change that levels the playing field so that gun skill and strategy matter more than your gear's Power level. They're also adjusting how Boons are scored, which should make match outcomes feel more consistent and earned. It's a solid step toward improving the health of the PvP event.
Finally, you can support a good cause while showing off your PvP skills. The Bungie Bounty for Good returns on Monday, November 17, at 12 PM PT to support veterans. Match against the featured teams, including Snaevo and Atlas, for a chance to earn the rare Faster Than Light emblem.
