Bungie has announced significant changes to Destiny 2's Rite of the Nine dungeon rotation schedule, shortening featured cycles from three weeks to two and increasing Nonary Manifold currency drop rates across all dungeons. These changes arrive alongside the upcoming Ghosts of the Deep dungeon launch, Heavy Metal event conclusion, and the return of Trials of Osiris with enhanced rewards.

Dungeon Rotation Gets Faster with Better Rewards

Starting May 15, 2025, Destiny 2's Rite of the Nine dungeon rotation is accelerating, with each dungeon now featured for two weeks instead of three. The second week of each featured dungeon will offer increased weapon drops from all enemy defeats, including coveted Holofoils. Nonary Manifold currency drop rates are also increasing across all dungeons.

Ghosts of the Deep dungeon launches on May 20, 2025, becoming the next featured activity. Bungie is working to enable increased weapon drops in Spire of the Watcher until the transition occurs.

What's Changing with Dungeon Access?

Beginning June 17, 2025, all Rite of the Nine dungeons will become available at any time on any difficulty with increased currency drops. Each week will still feature a rotating dungeon with enhanced weapon drops:

  • June 17: Spire of the Watcher
  • June 24: Ghosts of the Deep
  • July 1: Prophecy

The rotation culminates in what Bungie calls a "lootapalooza" starting July 8, 2025, where all three dungeons will have all reward bonuses enabled during the final week of Episode Heresy. This generous loot period leads directly into The Edge of Fate launch on July 15, 2025.

Heavy Metal Event Ends This Week

Guardians have until May 16, 2025, at 9:59 UTC to complete the Heavy Metal event track and earn the Gryphon Combat Sparrow – the game's first combat-ready Sparrow. Players looking to claim the event title or complete gilding requirements must do so before the deadline, though Bungie confirms the event will return in the future with all rewards available again.

Trials of Osiris Returns with Enhanced Rewards

Trials of Osiris returns on May 16, 2025, featuring the Dead Cliffs map, Aisha's Care weapon, and increased reputation gains. The Inquisitor, a reprised Precision Slug Shotgun, is now available as an Adept weapon for Guardians who achieve Flawless passages.

Iron Banner also returns on May 20, 2025, bringing a new Nature Reclaimed Solar Scout Rifle with a Lightweight frame and fan-favorite perks for both PvE and PvP content. The final Iron Banner week of Episode Heresy will be June 17, 2025.

Bungie Foundation Charity Events

The Bungie Foundation continues its charitable efforts with Bungie Bounty for Good returning on May 22, 2025, at 10 AM PT. Participants can earn the new Faster Than Light emblem. The Gauntlet 2025 charity campaign for Gamers Engaged has already raised over $65,000 and closes on May 18, 2025.

Donations of $25 or more receive the Fired Up emblem, while $100+ donors can submit photos for hand-drawn portraits by Bungie staff (submissions due by May 31, 2025).

Community Spotlight: Incredible Dungeon Feats

Bungie highlighted two impressive Spire of the Watcher Ultimatum completions in their Movies of the Week section. Team Suutek, SpecialHero, and Vendetta blasted through the dungeon in just 13:25 minutes, while player cp Z achieved a solo flawless completion on Ultimatum difficulty – both remarkable achievements given the challenge level.

Bungie has issued a special challenge: beat either of these achievements (team time or solo flawless completion) and receive the Artifacting Signal emblem. Time to prove your Guardian is truly built different!
