Bungie has unveiled their ambitious roadmap for Destiny 2's future with the "Year of Prophecy" beginning July 15, 2025. This massive content year includes two major expansions, significant core gameplay changes, and immediate additions like the new Rite of the Nine dungeon and Heavy Metal event.
Two Major Expansions Anchor Year of Prophecy
The Edge of Fate expansion launches July 15, 2025, kicking off Destiny 2's Year of Prophecy. Players will explore a new destination called Kepler while wielding fresh abilities. Following on December 2, 2025, the Renegades expansion will deliver a Star Wars-inspired but fully canonical Destiny experience.
Pre-orders for The Edge of Fate are now available in multiple tiers, with a Collector's Edition offered through the Bungie Store.
Core Game Innovations Changing How We Play
Bungie is introducing "The Portal," a completely new activity selection screen designed to accommodate different playstyles. This interface overhaul aims to streamline the player experience, though the traditional Director will remain available for those who prefer it.

The gear system is receiving a substantial evolution with the introduction of armor set bonuses, stat reworks, and armor starting with full energy. These changes should dramatically alter build crafting and character optimization.
What's Available Right Now?
The Rite of the Nine dungeon activity has officially launched, featuring renewed weapons and additional challenges. Guardians who complete related Triumphs by July 14, 2025, can earn four new Bungie Rewards.
The Heavy Metal event begins May 9, 2025, introducing the new Event Home system that replaces Event Cards. Players can earn the Gryphon Combat Sparrow by completing challenges, plus grab the Mad Dog emblem via Twitch drops between May 9-16.
Creator Hub and Voice Acting Changes
Content creators can now apply to join the official Destiny 2 Creator Hub. This platform welcomes streamers, video editors, lore specialists, artists, and cosplayers, operating primarily through Discord in English, French, and German.
Bungie has also announced voice actor changes for several characters including Orin, Chioma, and Ikora in upcoming content due to talent unavailability. Some language versions will have silent content or English voiceover instead, with subtitles enabled by default.
