The latest This Week in Destiny update brings massive news for Guardians everywhere. Act III of Episode: Heresy is launching next week with the highly-anticipated Sunless Cell strike, new Nether areas, and powerful Artifact perks. Meanwhile, Titans have mathematically secured victory in Guardian Games 2025, and exciting collaborations with Sea of Thieves and Brawlhalla are on the horizon.

Act III of Heresy Episode Launches Next Week with Sunless Cell Strike

Guardians rejoice! The third and final act of Destiny 2's Episode: Heresy arrives next week, bringing with it a treasure trove of new content. Players can explore new areas in the Nether featuring fresh encounters and hazards, while the Court of Blades will see updates with new foes and mechanics to master.

The highlight for many veterans will undoubtedly be the return of The Sunless Cell strike, complete with a Grandmaster difficulty version that's sure to test even the most seasoned fireteams. For those chasing the best gear, Expert Nether and Expert Court of Blades will offer improved rewards, with higher chances for Adept weapons based on your performance.

Barrow-Dyad enthusiasts can look forward to two new catalysts and the fifth/final Intrinsic for the Exotic Submachine Gun, potentially making it a meta contender for the upcoming season.

Titans Reign Supreme in Guardian Games 2025

The competitive spirit of Guardian Games 2025 has reached its mathematical conclusion, with Titans claiming the crown ahead of the event's April 1 finale at 10 AM PT. The crayon-eating juggernauts have proven their dominance, but there's still time for Hunters and Warlocks to earn remaining rewards.

Guardians of all classes have until April 1 to complete Event Card challenges and unlock the Champ Title. The Rushdown Roulette competition also saw impressive performances in Week Two, with the Nordics Titan team posting the highest score at 528,222, narrowly edging out the ANZ Warlock team's 527,932.

What's Coming in the New Artifact Row?

Act III will introduce a powerful new row of Artifact perks that could significantly shake up the meta:

  • Unstoppable Rocket Launcher - Rocket Launchers will stun Unstoppable Champions and remain overcharged when the modifier is active
  • Vile Weave - A Strand-focused perk that severs targets hit by tangles and reduces tangle cooldown
  • Perpetual Destruction - Refunds ammo and increases reload speed after rapid final blows with non-Exotic Rocket Launchers
  • Gold from Lead - Chance to grant Heavy ammo when picking up Special ammo
  • To Shreds - Creates Strand hotspots that grant Woven Mail to allies when defeating Severed targets

Rocket Launcher enthusiasts and Strand mains will particularly benefit from these additions, potentially creating some devastating new builds for endgame content.

Crucible Updates and Iron Banner's Return

PvP players have plenty to look forward to next week. Iron Banner returns featuring the Warlord's Spear Arc Trace Rifle and Peacebond Adaptive Sidearm as earnable rewards.

This weekend's Trials of Osiris will feature the coveted Shayura's Wrath Adept weapon and debut the Disjunction map with elimination-focused spawn points. In a Guardian Games-themed twist, matchmaking will be class-based, requiring teams to have one of each class.

Bungie is also implementing balance changes in update 8.2.5.3, targeting several meta-dominating options:

  • Redrix's Estoc nerfs: Range reduced by 8, Handling reduced by 5, Aim Assist reduced by 2
  • Lone Wolf perk: Reduced Aim Assist bonuses
  • Closing Time perk: Benefits reduced by 50% on Special ammo weapons
  • Machine Gun ammo from Heavy crates: Reduced to 22 rounds for guns with Magazine Size of 80 or less

For collectors, Bungie Rewards include a Trials of Osiris ring and Crucible sweater, available until May 6, 2025.
