The walk of shame is officially over. Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has just deployed Version 1.7, and while it brings a healthy amount of new loot, the headline feature is a massive quality-of-life change for the Soulslike formula: instant boss retries.
End of the Runback
If you've been grinding through the late Ming Dynasty, you know the pain of a long runback after a failed boss attempt. Leenzee Games has addressed this friction directly in Version 1.7 with the new Rechallenge feature. Upon death, players can now choose to restart the battle immediately from the arena entrance.
This is a significant shift in the meta of how you learn boss patterns. Instead of spending two minutes running past trash mobs and losing your rhythm, you can jump straight back into the action while your muscle memory is fresh. For a game that demands precise parry timing and spacing, this reduces downtime drastically.
New Arsenal for Deluxe Owners
The update also unlocks the second wave of content for Deluxe Edition owners. If you own the pass, you now have access to the full roadmap of promised gear, bringing the total to 9 costumes and 8 weapons across patches 1.6 and 1.7. Specifically, this update adds:
- 3 New Costumes
- 2 New Weapons
You don't need the Deluxe Edition to get everything, though. The developers have added 4 free headgear items available to all players, regardless of which version of the game you own.
What if my items aren't showing up?
With the 1.6 GB patch now live on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, some players might run into issues claiming the new gear. If you can't find your items, the developers recommend checking for third-party mods first. Mods are a common culprit for inventory bugs in Unreal Engine titles after a fresh patch. If disabling mods doesn't work, verify your game files to ensure the update didn't hang during the download.
