Everstone Studio has released a comprehensive development update for Where Winds Meet, addressing critical network stability issues for international players while outlining a hardware roadmap that includes Steam Deck and PS5 Pro support. The update tackles the immediate friction points regarding latency in Europe and the Middle East while committing to long-requested quality-of-life features like multi-character creation.
Stabilizing the Connection
For an action RPG reliant on precise parries and martial arts timing, network latency is the enemy of enjoyment. Everstone has acknowledged the high latency issues plaguing players in Europe and the Middle East, confirming that network routing for these regions has been optimized. If you have been experiencing rubber-banding or delayed inputs in Online mode, these changes are live and should result in a much smoother combat experience.
However, the work isn't entirely finished. While Online mode has seen immediate improvements, the team identified separate latency issues affecting Solo mode. A targeted fix for Solo mode latency is currently scheduled for a mid-December update. Until then, players sticking to single-player content might still encounter occasional hiccups, but a solution is locked in for next month.
What is coming in the future roadmap?
Beyond immediate bug squashing, the developers dropped significant news regarding platform expansion and hardware support. The team is officially working on Steam Deck compatibility, a massive win for players looking to take their Wuxia adventures on the go. Given the game's open-world density, optimization for the handheld will be key, but official support is a promising step.
Additionally, PS5 Pro support is in the pipeline. While specific technical enhancements—such as ray tracing features or specific frame rate targets—weren't detailed, owners of Sony's upgraded console can expect the game to leverage that extra horsepower in future patches. Ongoing PS5 optimization remains a priority for the base console as well, with stability improvements rolling out over the next two months.
Quality of Life and Localization
One of the more surprising omissions at launch was the inability to create multiple characters on a single account. Everstone has confirmed they are developing a multi-character creation feature, allowing players to experiment with different builds and appearances without overwriting their main progress. There is no hard date for this yet, but it is actively in development.
Finally, the studio is addressing feedback regarding localization. Players can expect revised translations and optimized dubbing and subtitles for story quests. The team is even planning "co-creation events" to gather direct community input on localization, ensuring the English adaptation better captures the nuance of the game's historical Chinese setting.
