Riot Games has released Patch 10.09 for Valorant, bringing significant balance changes to Tejo, a minor nerf to Breach, Swiftplay mode adjustments, and various bug fixes. The update, which goes live on May 13, 2025, addresses community concerns about Tejo's overperforming abilities while also increasing the daily gifting limit.
Tejo's Ability Kit Gets Complete Overhaul
After months of community feedback, Riot has finally addressed Tejo's dominant presence in the meta since his January 2025 introduction. The initiator agent's signature ability, Guided Salvo, has undergone the most significant changes, switching from a cooldown system to a charge-based model similar to Skye's abilities.
Guided Salvo now costs 150 credits per charge with one free charge at round start, and the map targeting range has been reduced from 55m to 45m to prevent easy cross-map stalling. Additionally, Tejo's economy has been rebalanced with Stealth Drone increasing from 300 to 400 credits, while Special Delivery decreases from 300 to 200 credits.
Perhaps most importantly, Tejo's ultimate ability Armageddon will now require 9 ultimate points instead of 8, putting it "in line with other ultimates that are in a similar power profile," according to the patch notes.
Breach's Fault Line Gets Slight Nerf
Breach players will notice a small but significant change to his Fault Line ability. The time until detonation after cast has been increased from 1 second to 1.2 seconds, giving opponents slightly more time to react and potentially escape the stun effect if they aren't directly in its center.
Riot explained this change was made because Fault Line had "felt below our counterplay bar for abilities," indicating they wanted to increase opportunities for opponents to respond to the powerful stun.
What's New in Swiftplay Mode?
Swiftplay mode receives some balance adjustments in this patch, with starting ultimate points being increased for three agents. Breach, Killjoy, and Viper will now all start with 3 ultimate points instead of 2, giving players a better chance to use these powerful abilities within a half.
According to the patch notes, "This change is part of a broader Swiftplay update to scale starting ult points based on ultimate cost," suggesting more agents might receive similar adjustments in future patches.
Increased Gifting Limit and Bug Fixes
Starting May 15, 2025, players will be able to send up to 10 gifts per day to friends, double the previous limit of 5. This change coincides with the release of the Give Back // V25 Collection in the Featured Store, where gifts sent from this bundle will also contribute to charity.
On the cosmetics front, Riot has decided to keep a visual bug with the Bolt skinline as an "Easter egg" after determining it poses no photosensitivity risk. However, they noted a separate, more severe brightness issue with the Bolt skins will be fixed in patch 10.11.
The update also fixes a bug where Kill Banners for certain skins (including Oni, Evori Dreamwings, and Mystbloom) were appearing smaller than normal after the first kill.
Riot acknowledged they're aware of an issue where Omen can allow dead allies to see through Viper's Pit or other nearsight effects, which will be addressed in patch 10.10.
