More Than Just Decor
The update adds a necessary layer of life to the 19th-century Mediterranean aesthetic. We aren't just talking about static assets; the new pet roster includes Dogs, Cats, Geese, and Camels. These additions come alongside specific gameplay loops, including new quests like "Honey Herding" and "Camel Comforts," which integrate the animals into the city's economy rather than leaving them as mere window dressing.
To support this expansion, players can now construct an Animal Shelter, a Dress Maker, and a Patisserie. It’s a smart move to diversify the building types, giving us more reasons to tweak our layouts for aesthetic perfection. Additionally, a new sandbox level, Île d'Aurore, has been added for players looking for a fresh canvas.
Critical System Fixes
For anyone who has lost hours of progress in a city builder, this is the most important part of the patch notes. The developers have completely overhauled the save system. This rewrite specifically targets data loss prevention and improves loading times. In a genre where "just one more turn" can turn into a five-hour session, stability is king.
The team also addressed a nagging completionist bug: the percentage counter can finally reach a true 100%, and the happiness display issues have been resolved.
How do I access Free Walk mode?
Version 8402 finally breaks us out of the isometric lock. You can now access a "Free Walk" mode through the Mayor's home or via Photo Mode. It allows you to explore your settlement from a ground-level perspective, letting you appreciate those granular details and texture fixes—like the improved LODs and building textures—up close.
The update is available now for PC players.
