Trigger Happy Interactive has released Patch 1.035 for Total Chaos, focusing on quality-of-life adjustments that make the survival horror experience a little less frustrating—specifically regarding your eyesight and your footing.
Saving Your Retinas (and Your Progress)
If you have been relying on the Revolver to keep the horrors at bay, you might have noticed that firing it in dark corridors was often as disorienting for you as it was for the enemies. This update significantly reduces the visual flash effect when firing. It’s a small tweak, but in a game where lighting and perception are central to the horror, not blinding yourself during a firefight is a welcome change.
Perhaps more impactful for those deep in a "Madness" run is the addition of new autosaves in the Crossroads. Specifically, the game now triggers an autosave when you attempt to complete the area while insane. Given how the Madness system already warps your perception and makes the game harder, having a safety net here prevents a bad run from becoming a total restart.
What glitches were fixed in Patch 1.035?
Beyond the combat tweaks, this patch shores up the physical world of Fort Oasis. The developers have fixed a terrifying bug that had nothing to do with the monsters: players falling out of elevators. Geometry issues in the Forgotten area have also been patched, ensuring you stay on solid ground.
For those who were exploiting the infinite ammo spawn during the Forgotten boss fight, the party is over. That loop has been closed, so you'll need to manage your resources properly again. On the visual side, the Level of Detail (LOD) bias distance has been increased, which should reduce the amount of texture and object pop-in as you explore.
