Throne and Liberty players can look forward to a substantial content update with the arrival of patch 2.8.0. The update introduces three major features: Trait Resonance for equipment enhancement, the Illusion Workshop for cosmetic customization, and a limited-time Mystic Portal event. Server maintenance is scheduled for April 30, 2024, at 10:30 PM PT (5:30 AM UTC on May 1) and will last approximately three hours.

Trait Resonance Enhances Equipment Progression

The new Trait Resonance system adds depth to Throne and Liberty's gear progression. Players who have fully developed all three traits on a piece of equipment (unlocked and at maximum tier) can now unlock a fourth trait. This additional trait can be randomly generated or specifically chosen using Trait Resonance Stones, which are obtainable through Material Transmutation and crafting. It's worth noting that if you re-trait the base traits, the Trait Resonance will deactivate until those base traits are maxed again.

Express Your Style with the Illusion Workshop

Fashion-conscious adventurers will appreciate the new Illusion Workshop, which allows players to customize the appearance of individual gear pieces. Using Illusion Scrolls, players can capture gear appearances for their cosmetic collection and apply dyes for further customization. Currently, only Epic gear items are supported, though NCSOFT plans to expand the available illusions over time.

What's the Mystic Portal: Treasure Hunt Event?

Running from May 1 to May 15, 2024, the Mystic Portal: Treasure Hunt event rewards daily logins with special Mystic Keys. These keys open Mystic Portals, granting access to a treasure-hunting minigame where players solve puzzles to find hidden chests. Rewards include an Amitoi companion, a new Morph ability, and various character progression materials.

Twitch Drops and Combat Balance Changes

From May 1 to May 14, 2024, players can earn Ornate Coins through Twitch Drops by watching Throne and Liberty streams. Watching for two hours grants 200 Ornate Coins, while five hours of viewing rewards 300 Ornate Coins. Players must link their Twitch account to their gaming platform account (Steam, Xbox, or PSN) to receive these rewards.

The update also brings significant balance changes to various weapons. Deluzhnoa weapons receive substantial buffs, with the Edge of Eternal Frost gaining damage reduction stacking and 50% increased monster damage. Other weapons like Crossbows, Daggers, Greatsword, Wand, and Sword and Shield have received specific adjustments to improve their performance in combat.

Quality of Life Improvements

Update 2.8.0 includes numerous quality-of-life enhancements. Console players can now customize their controller UI layout, and the Party Matchmaking system has been improved with role icons and new categories. The Cooking UI now features search functionality, and the Dynamic Events UI better displays Regional Contribution Certificates. These changes, along with various bug fixes, aim to create a smoother gaming experience for all players.
