NCSOFT and Amazon Games have announced a significant update for Throne and Liberty, with Update 2.4.0 scheduled for April 2, 2024. The update introduces a completely revamped Rune Book UI system, guaranteed T2 drops from major bosses, substantial Material Transmutation improvements, and numerous quality-of-life enhancements aimed at streamlining the player experience.
Rune Management Gets Complete Overhaul
The centerpiece of Update 2.4.0 is the new Rune Book UI system, which fundamentally changes how players interact with runes in Throne and Liberty. Located in the Item section of the Main Menu, this new interface unifies the entire rune system, creating a single entry for each rune that levels up as you collect duplicates.
Basic Runes now function as account-wide unlocks that can be equipped to multiple items simultaneously, while Chaos Runes remain limited to one item at a time. The system also introduces a maximum storage capacity of 100 Chaos Runes, with the option to delete unused ones to free up space.
Rune Synergies have been simplified to provide a single maximized benefit for each color combination, making the system more intuitive. The new interface includes search functionality, favorites, and filters to help players quickly find the runes they need.
Perhaps most importantly, the update introduces a rune leveling guarantee system with progress bars that ensure consistent advancement, addressing one of the community's most significant pain points with the previous RNG-heavy system.
Guaranteed T2 Drops From Major Bosses
In a move that will please endgame players, the Talandre Guild Raid and Riftstone bosses (Daigon, Leviathan, Pakilo Naru, and Manticus Brothers) will now guarantee a T2 Armor or Accessory drop with each kill. This comes in addition to their existing drop pools, significantly improving the reliability of gear progression.
What's Changing with Material Transmutation?
Material Transmutation receives substantial quality-of-life improvements in this update. Players can now use auto-add options for designated material types and grades, split stacks of items with Shift-Left Click, and add up to 300 eligible items at once (up from the previous limit of 20).
These changes should dramatically reduce the time spent managing materials, allowing players to focus more on gameplay and less on inventory management.
Hall of Illusion and War Games Improvements
Hall of Illusion now features checkpoints between fights, allowing players to take breaks during lengthy challenge runs. Several boss-specific issues have also been addressed, including fixes for Molgras teleportation and the Lionhead Zone of Pain effect.
War Games receives interface improvements, including the display of team members' current weapons for better strategy planning and the ability to edit War Game Lobbies display names. The Yellow Team color has also been adjusted to avoid confusion with the Friendly guilds color.
UI and Quality-of-Life Enhancements
Update 2.4.0 brings numerous UI improvements that enhance the overall player experience:
- Chained damage or healing now displays as a single increasing number
- A new setting to enable/disable Item Acquisition popup messages
- Added HUD shortcuts for Amitoi House and Fishing mode
- Skill presets can now be shared via chat links
- Option to copy skill and specialization presets to a new preset
- Multiple UI adjustments for controller focus areas and window priority
Update Schedule and Additional Changes
The Update 2.4.0 downtime will begin on April 2, 2024, at 10:30 PM PT (5:30 AM UTC on April 3) and is expected to last approximately 3.5 hours.
Other notable changes include replacing Rare Rune chests with Epic Rune chests for various reward types, removing Epic Tier 2 and Tier 1 equipment drops from basic zone population mobs, and adding an Arena Sundries Merchant to Herba Village.
Guild tax and rewards can now be distributed unevenly among members, and players can move between floors in Gate of Infinity and Taedal's Tower without exiting, further streamlining the gameplay experience.
With these comprehensive improvements, Update 2.4.0 represents a significant step forward for Throne and Liberty, addressing many community concerns while enhancing core systems that impact daily gameplay.
