1047 Games is opening the servers for one last ride before the game heads into full development lockdown. The final Splitgate 2 beta playtest runs this weekend, November 22-23, from 10am to 4pm PT. If you want to influence the final product, this is your last window to log data and stress-test the servers.
The Great Equipment Purge
The biggest news isn't just what's being added, but what's being taken away. Based on feedback from previous sessions, the developers are taking a machete to the sandbox. Five pieces of equipment are being permanently removed from the relaunch build to streamline the combat loop:
- Proximity Mine
- Recon Radar
- Regen Cloud
- Sand Grenade
- Time Dome
For a high-mobility shooter, this is a massive shift in the meta. Removing tools that encourage camping (Proximity Mine) or stall engagement flow (Time Dome) suggests a commitment to faster, more aggressive play. It forces players to rely more on raw gunplay and portal positioning rather than utility spam to control space.
Karman Station and the Rail Gun
Karman Station returns to the rotation, offering the complex verticality and open sightlines that portal veterans thrive on. To complement the map, the Rail Gun is making its debut. In a game where momentum is everything, a hit-scan power weapon like this is going to be a high-priority pickup. Expect the fight for map control to center heavily around its spawn location.
What is the Party Mix playlist?
If you need a break from the sweat of standard Arena, this playtest introduces the Party Mix playlist. This includes SWAT (headshots only, no shields), Fiesta (random loadouts), and Shotty Snipers. While these modes are chaotic fun, they also serve as excellent testbeds for specific weapon mechanics.
Speaking of weapons, keep an eye on LMGs this weekend. They have received a slight damage buff, likely to make them more viable for lane suppression against the game's rapid movement speed. Visual clarity has also been improved for portal overloading and EMP effects, addressing previous complaints about screen clutter during firefights.
