If you are currently staring at a generic connection error screen instead of waking up on the beach, you aren't the only one. Rust is currently experiencing widespread connectivity issues preventing players from joining servers, and the culprit appears to be the game's security gatekeeper rather than the game servers themselves.
EasyAntiCheat Outage Blocks Server Access
Facepunch Studios has confirmed that the current login failures are directly tied to a service outage with EasyAntiCheat (EAC). For those new to the technical side of things, EAC acts as the bouncer for the game; if the anti-cheat service cannot verify a client or communicate with the master server, it defaults to locking the door to prevent unverified clients from entering. This results in players getting kicked or failing to connect entirely, regardless of their actual internet stability.
The developers have advised players to monitor the official EasyAntiCheat service status pages for real-time resolution updates. Unfortunately, because this is a third-party middleware issue, there is very little you can do on your end (like verifying game files or restarting your router) to fix it. We just have to wait for the service to come back online.
Why can't I connect to Rust servers right now?
The connection failures occurring on November 26, 2025, are caused by an outage at EasyAntiCheat. Since the anti-cheat software cannot verify your client, the game prevents you from joining any secured servers until the service is restored.
New Battle-Hardened RPG Launcher Available
In a bit of ironic timing, this outage coincides with a refresh of the item store. While you might not be able to log in to craft it immediately, the new "battle-hardened RPG Launcher" pack is now available. This cosmetic update offers a grittier, more worn aesthetic for the rocket launcher, fitting perfectly with the harsh survival atmosphere of the island.
Once EAC resolves the connectivity issues, you'll be able to grab the skin and get back to roaming. Until then, keep an eye on the official status channels.
