Digital Sun has deployed the first post-launch hotfix for Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault, directly addressing the initial progression friction players have encountered since release. This update focuses on smoothing out the early game economy, tuning boss difficulty, and locking in better performance for handheld users.
Economy and Difficulty Adjustments
The most significant change in this patch is a direct adjustment to the game's pacing. The unlock requirement for the Endless Vault has been reduced from 10,000 to 7,000 coins. For a shopkeeper-adventurer trying to balance inventory expansion with gear upgrades, saving 10,000 coins early on was a steep climb. This 30% reduction effectively removes several dungeon runs of grinding, letting players access the core "Endless" loop much sooner.
Combat balance also received attention. The Herald boss fight, which had been acting as a severe difficulty spike for many players, has been tuned to feel fairer. Additionally, Easy Mode is now more forgiving, with reductions to enemy health and damage output, ensuring the narrative-focused players aren't walloped by standard mobs.
Is Moonlighter 2 better on Steam Deck now?
While the game was playable on Steam Deck at launch, this hotfix introduces pre-tuned optimization settings. You no longer need to fiddle with the graphics sliders to get a stable framerate; the game now defaults to a configuration specifically optimized for the Deck's hardware. This should eliminate the stuttering some users reported during intense dungeon rooms filled with particle effects.
Technical Fixes
For desktop users, the hotfix addresses a frustrating issue with Ultrawide monitors. Resolution support for 3440x1440 has been fixed, meaning the UI elements should no longer stretch or clip off-screen. A cursor lock feature has also been added for fullscreen and windowed modes, preventing your mouse from accidentally drifting onto a second monitor during frantic combat.
Digital Sun has indicated this is just the first of several planned updates to stabilize the launch window.
