If you have been waiting for the opportunity to slap a wyvern in the face with a pair of perfectly cooked steaks, your time has finally come. Monster Hunter Wilds just dropped a new Event Quest that leans heavily into the franchise's long-standing tradition of absurd, food-based weaponry.
The new quest, titled "Meat at the Heart of Wyveria," is available now. It tasks players with a double hunt that yields materials for one of the most iconic "joke" weapons in the series' history: the Tasty Blades.
Meat at the Heart of Wyveria Quest Details
This isn't just a gathering run; you have to work for your dinner. The quest requires you to hunt two specific monsters in a single outing:
- Quematrice
- Rathalos
Pairing the new Quematrice with the classic "King of the Skies," Rathalos, makes for a chaotic hunt. You are dealing with significant aggression and aerial mobility from both targets. If you are farming this quest for the rewards, bring Flash Pods to keep Rathalos grounded and ensure your fire resistance is topped off, as things are going to get heated.
The Rewards: Tasty Blades and Steak Strap
The main draw here is the crafting material needed for the Tasty Blades. These Dual Blades are modeled after the in-game Well-done Steaks. While joke weapons often aren't meta-defining in terms of raw DPS, they are usually essential for layered weapon fashion (transmog). Running a high-end fatalis-tier build while looking like you are holding two pieces of meat is the ultimate flex.
How do I unlock the Well-done Steak Strap?
In addition to the weapon, there is a cosmetic reward for your first successful run. Upon clearing "Meat at the Heart of Wyveria" for the first time, you will receive the Well-done Steak Strap pendant. This is a weapon charm that hangs off your gear, letting you showcase your culinary dedication even if you aren't using the Dual Blades.
Event Quests in Monster Hunter Wilds are typically time-limited or on a rotation, so I recommend jumping in to secure your blueprints sooner rather than later. Even if you don't main Dual Blades, having the option to dual-wield dinner is too good to pass up.
