Minecraft players are about to experience a whole new level of mob management as Mojang Studios introduces expanded leashing mechanics. The upcoming update will allow players to chain multiple mobs together, attach them to boats and fences, and even create flying transportation systems using happy ghasts.
Chain Your Mobs in Creative New Ways
Gone are the days of single-mob leashing! Soon, you'll be able to create chains of multiple creatures by simply crouching while applying leads. This opens up countless possibilities for mob transportation and farm management, though baby mobs will still require direct attachment to players for safety reasons.
The update doesn't stop there - players will now be able to attach mobs directly to boats, chest boats, and fences, creating more versatile transportation and storage solutions. Imagine moving your entire farm across the ocean with just a single boat journey!

Take to the Skies with Leashed Ghasts
Perhaps the most exciting addition is the ability to leash happy ghasts and attach chest boats beneath them. This ingenious sky-travel system allows players to transport items and even other mobs through the air - perfect for reaching those hard-to-access mountain bases or crossing dangerous terrain.

How Will Fence Knots Change?
Fence knot functionality is getting a significant upgrade too. Players can now crouch before interacting with a fence knot to remove a leashed mob while keeping it attached to the lead. Adding multiple leashes to a single knot is also streamlined, and you can remove knots entirely using shears.
Lead Management Improvements
The update introduces several quality-of-life improvements for lead management. Players can "borrow" leads with a right-click (if they're not owned by another player), and shears can now remove specific leashes from a mob chain or detach ghast harnesses. This precision control allows for much more nuanced mob management.

When Can You Try These Features?
These exciting leashing features are available now for testing in Java Edition snapshots. To access them, open up the Minecraft Launcher and enable snapshots. Bedrock Edition players won't have to wait long, as the features will be coming to preview and beta versions soon.
Realm owners can also test these features by following instructions for enabling snapshots on Java Realms. As always with testing versions, remember to backup your worlds to prevent potential corruption.
Mojang welcomes player feedback on these new mechanics through their official feedback portal, and any bugs can be reported on bugs.mojang.com.
