Spirit Blossom Takes Over Summoner's Rift
The Spirit Blossom Festival arrives in Ionia with Season 2, transforming Summoner's Rift with a stunning visual overhaul. Players will battle amid cherry blossoms and spiritual energy as the map receives its first seasonal theme of 2025.
Alongside the map update, eight new skins will be released on April 30, 2025, at 19:00 UTC, including Spirit Blossom Bard, Zyra, Varus, Ivern, Ashe, Irelia, and the highlight Prestige Spirit Blossom Lux. Pool Party Twitch rounds out the collection for players seeking summer vibes.

Major Gameplay Changes
Atakhan receives a significant rework, now appearing in a singular Thornbound form instead of the previous Voracious and Ruinous forms. Teams that defeat him will receive the Bloody Petal bonus, all remaining Bloody Roses (purified into Spirit Petals), and a Spiritual Purification buff for the remainder of the game.
The Void objectives system has been adjusted with Void Grubs now spawning at 8:00 minutes instead of 6:00, and no longer respawning. Teams need only three Grubs to earn the Hunger of the Void buff, down from four previously.
What's New for Role Selection?
A welcome quality-of-life improvement comes in the form of automatic role assignments. Jungle players will automatically receive Smite as a summoner spell, while supports will start with the World Atlas item. Players can also swap roles with teammates directly in champion select, streamlining the pre-game experience.
The bounty system has been overhauled to better function as a comeback mechanism. Objective bounties now pay up to 10% of the gold difference on top of the base bounty (capped at 1000g), while champion bounties have been adjusted to only activate when a team is moderately ahead.
Balance Updates
Twelve champions receive balance adjustments in Patch 25.09. Annie, Ashe, K'Sante, Leona, Morgana, Orianna, and Shen all receive buffs, while Gwen, Naafiri, and Yorick face nerfs. Kalista and Rengar receive more neutral adjustments focused on their playstyles.
Item changes include a reduction in cost for all Tier 3 boots from 750 to 500 gold, making these powerful upgrades more accessible. Rod of Ages, Boots of Swiftness, and Symbiotic Soles also receive targeted adjustments to balance their effectiveness.
Battle Pass and Game Modes
The Spirit Blossom Battle Pass offers 55 levels of rewards including three champion skins: Spirit Blossom Ivern (level 10), Pool Party Twitch (level 40), and Prestige Spirit Blossom Lux (level 50), along with numerous cosmetics, essence, and loot boxes.
Arena mode receives an extension through Patch 25.09, while the new Brawl game mode is scheduled to arrive in Patch 25.10, giving players something to look forward to after the season launch.
Community Protection Improvements
Riot has implemented significant upgrades to in-game griefing detection for ranked queues. Report feedback will now include the name of penalized players, and chat restrictions will extend to champion select and post-game lobbies, creating a more transparent and accountable community environment.
Death screens also receive a visual upgrade with added color and a spectator UI that allows players to monitor the map while waiting to respawn, keeping them engaged even after defeat.
Ranked queues will be disabled from midnight to noon on April 30, 2025, during the season cooldown period before Season 2 officially begins at noon local server time.
