Cross-Platform Comms Finally Live
If you have been relying on Discord or external apps to coordinate with squadmates on different platforms, that friction is gone. The latest patch enables native voice chat regardless of hardware. This is a critical quality-of-life improvement for a three-player co-op shooter where calling out enemy spawns and coordinating ability cooldowns defines the difference between a successful run and a wipe.
To enable the feature, you will need to download the latest update (Version 1.7.1 on PC, 1.007.001 on PS5). Note that upon launching the game, you must re-accept the updated EULA and Privacy Policy before the voice functionality activates. It is a small administrative hurdle for a significant tactical gain.
Rogue Protocol Moving to 2026
The bad news is that the roadmap has shifted. The 'Rogue Protocol' update, originally slated for late 2025, is now targeting a January 2026 release. Delays are often necessary for stability, but for players hungry for new content, the wait just got a little longer.
What is the new Endless Shift mode?
To soften the blow of the delay, Remedy provided a deeper look at the upcoming 'Endless Shift' mode included in the future update. This is essentially a wave-based survival mode, but with a distinct FBC twist. Instead of just surviving for leaderboards, you are grinding for 'Corruption' upgrades.
The Corruption system sounds like it could shake up the current meta significantly. These acquired upgrades are not just for the survival mode; some can be taken back into the main game's Crisis Board missions. This introduces a new layer of build-crafting, potentially allowing for overpowered combinations that were not previously possible with standard gear. We will have to wait until January to see exactly how these corruption mechanics interact with existing loadouts.
