Studio Wildcard has revealed the Bison as the newest creature coming to Ark: Survival Ascended in their latest Community Crunch 458 update. The territorial herbivore will arrive alongside the Ragnarok Ascended map on June 18, 2023, bringing new taming opportunities and survival mechanics to the prehistoric world.
Bison: The New Territorial Powerhouse
The Bison (Bison matrislac) promises to be a formidable addition to Ark: Survival Ascended's creature roster. According to the developer update, these Early Pleistocene herbivores become highly aggressive when larger predators approach, fiercely defending their herds even against apex predators like the T. Rex.
What Can Players Do With Tamed Bison?
While these powerful creatures won't be easy to knock out due to their bulk, taming them offers significant rewards. Female Bison produce nutritious milk that serves as valuable sustenance for baby creatures - including wyverns. This makes them a strategic tame for players focused on breeding high-level creatures, as the milk can substitute for the notoriously difficult-to-obtain wyvern milk.
Server Changes and Weekend Events
The Community Crunch also announced that inactive official servers will be sunset on May 20, 2023. Studio Wildcard is working with Nitrado to make server saves available after shutdown, giving players a chance to preserve their progress.
Players looking to maximize their gameplay should take advantage of the weekend bonus rates active until May 19, 2023:
