This content is an expansion for the established Role-playing (RPG) and Adventure title, released on October 28, 2025, for PC (Microsoft Windows). It significantly extends the world of Tyria by introducing a race against the covert Inquest to uncover the secrets of the remote, potentially mythical island of Castora. This expansion builds upon the core experience, requiring ownership of the base game to access its new narrative and features. It promises a substantial addition to the ongoing saga, introducing new zones, mechanics, and high-level challenges that integrate directly into the existing progression structure.

Exploring the Island of Castora

The central focus of this expansion is the journey to Castora, an island shrouded in mystery and rumored to be teeming with potent magical energies. Players will initially explore two new open-world regions upon launch, with two additional maps slated to become available as the story unfolds over the subsequent year. This magically infused landscape is characterized by strange and warped wildlife, setting a distinct atmospheric tone for the adventure.

What New Gameplay Systems Are Introduced?

Mastery and Mount Progression

A key enhancement to existing systems involves the unlocking of three new Mastery tracks. One of these tracks is dedicated specifically to the Skimmer mount, granting it new and updated abilities that alter traversal and interaction within the environment. Furthermore, players can augment their character builds by acquiring new relics thematically tied to the Castora adventure.

Elite Specializations and Legendary Rewards

This expansion introduces a new elite specialization for every profession available in the parent game. These specializations unlock fresh traits, unique profession mechanics, and new healing, utility, and elite skills, offering significant depth for character customization. Beyond immediate combat enhancements, players have the opportunity to pursue six new legendary rewards: three new legendary weapons, a new legendary ring, a legendary accessory, and a legendary aquabreather.

What High-Level Challenges Await?

The expansion introduces significant endgame content designed to test veteran players. Two of the three major updates planned for 2026 will feature new Raid Encounters, complete with Challenge Modes and a specialized Legendary Mode. Alongside these raids, a new type of encounter called a Convergence will be introduced. To support accessibility, system updates accompanying the first new Raid Encounter aim to make raids easier to access for more players. Additionally, a new Fractal, also featuring an accompanying Challenge Mode, is scheduled for release with the final major expansion update.

Homestead and Quality-of-Life Updates

For players who own both this expansion and the preceding expansion, access to a new Castoran Homestead map will be unlocked. Supporting this and general world navigation, two new features are being introduced: the ability to freely swap between the Janthiri and Castoran maps, and the "Layouts" feature. Layouts allow players to save, load, share, and edit the arrangement of decorations within their personal spaces.

New Acquisition Opportunities

Throughout the expansion's lifecycle, players can earn a variety of new cosmetic and functional items. These include new emotes, armors, weapons, recipes, and other unique rewards tied to the dangers of Castora. Seasonal Wizard’s Vault refreshes will also incorporate additional options for unique aesthetic rewards.
