The endgame loop in Dragonkin: The Banished is getting a significant overhaul, as EKO Software plans to replace lengthy map clears with shorter, more intense boss-focused hunts. The developer detailed a major rework for the Hunting Board system, aiming to make each endgame session feel more like a purposeful pursuit and less like a grind.
Currently, endgame hunts can feel a bit drawn out. The upcoming changes, planned for the full release, directly address this by cutting down session times. Regular hunts are being trimmed to about 10–15 minutes, while the final hunts to unlock new maps will take around 20–25 minutes. This is a huge quality-of-life improvement that respects a player's time and focuses on getting you to the action faster.
From Grind to Glory: A New Hunting Philosophy
The core philosophy is shifting from clearing a map to tracking a target. Instead of wandering through an area until it's done, each hunt will now have a definitive climax. Regular hunts will conclude with a fight against a powerful sub-boss or champion, giving each run a clear and rewarding finale. Final hunts will culminate in a showdown with a Lord or a major boss, reinforcing the fantasy of hunting down the world's most dangerous creatures.
To go along with these mechanical changes, the Hunting Board itself is getting a new home. It will be moved to a dedicated, visually redesigned room within the Cathedral of Montescail, centered around a large table that better sells the narrative of planning a strategic hunt.
How will this change the endgame loop?
This rework fundamentally changes the rhythm of the endgame. Instead of long, sometimes aimless sessions, players can look forward to quick, high-impact runs with a guaranteed boss fight. It makes farming for specific loot or materials a much more engaging process. The focus on a final confrontation at the end of every hunt ensures that each session feels meaningful and contributes to your legend as a master hunter in the ravaged world of Dragonkin: The Banished.
