In an extraction shooter where every encounter can mean the difference between a successful haul and losing all your gear, facing a coordinated trio with only one teammate is a significant disadvantage. This often turned tactical firefights into uphill battles decided by numbers rather than skill. The new system aims to level the playing field, making the experience much more consistent for those who prefer to drop into the wasteland with a single partner.
This change is a direct response to community feedback. By implementing a dedicated queue logic for duos, the developers are ensuring that these squads get a more balanced PvP experience, allowing them to focus on outsmarting enemy players and surviving the relentless onslaught of the ARC machines.
How does the new matchmaking work?
The system isn't a completely separate playlist, but a change in matchmaking logic. When you queue as a duo, the game will now actively search for another duo to place in your lobby as the opposing squad. While it's a prioritization and not an ironclad guarantee for every single match depending on player population, it should drastically reduce the frequency of 2v3 scenarios. Solo and trio queues remain unaffected, but this is a huge quality-of-life improvement for the large portion of the player base that runs in pairs.
